Catherine R. Marchello

Catherine (Rena) Marchello, 92, of Red Lodge, MT passed away on May 28, 2014, at The Retreat in Polson, Mt. of natural causes with family by her side.
She was born on January 17, 1922, in Bearcreek, MT. to Louis and Angelina Delaurenti. As a young girl she lived with her family in Bearcreek and was educated in the Bearcreek public school. While in High School she was a member of the basketball team. After graduation she worked in Yellowstone Park and in Billings for a short period of time.
She married Aldo Marchello on June 8, 1941 in Red Lodge and worked alongside of her husband at Marchello IGA until the sale of the grocery store at which time she went to work at US National Bank until retirement.
In August of 2011 she moved to The Retreat, an Assisted Living home, in Polson.
She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, the Altar Society, Red Lodge Garden Club, Carbon County Memorial Hospital Pink Ladies and the Red Hat Ladies. She enjoyed travelling, gardening and baking. There were always cookies on hand just in case someone stopped by to visit.
A loving wife, mother and grandmother and she always took care of her friends and church. She loved flowers, entertaining and most of all her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Aldo, brother, Louie, and her sister, Josephine.
Survivors include her daughter, Janice, (Virgil) Gillespie of Fairbanks, Alaska; her son, Louie (Irene) Marchello of Polson, MT.; six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and three great, great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a rosary on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at St. Agnes at 7 PM. A Funeral Mass will be on June 5th at 11:00 AM at St. Agnes with Fr. Greg Staudinger officiating.
