Bo Ellis was born October 23, 1956, in Grangeville, ID, and passed away on September 10, 2024, in Polson, MT. She is survived by her four children; Kenna Jo “KJ” (Trent) Bess, Kate (Dallan) Wadsworth, Kalib Hone (Jana Wardell), and Kade Hone; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, three siblings; Janteen Olds, Kyle Hartman and Aaron Hartman; nieces, nephew and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, Dallas and Helen Hartman, and sister Rebecca Nicksic.
Bo grew up in Hurricane, UT. She was an avid animal and nature lover, a talented horsewoman, and tough as nails. She loved traveling and flying in any type of aircraft – even if it had one wing and some baling wire – she would fly. She had a true talent for making every home beautiful. She loved gardening and had a very green thumb. She was an amazing cook. Her “pollo/pollo chicken” was award-winning and she even had a food truck she ran with her two sons in Moab, UT.
She was forever a free-spirited gypsy. Whether it was enjoying boating with the yacht club in Seattle or rafting on the Colorado River, sleeping on Lone Rock Beach at Lake Powell, exploring the red rocks of Moab, UT, skinny-dipping with her daughters in the Snake River, flying down the highway listening to Joni Mitchell or Steve Winwood’s “Roll With It”, foraging mushrooms and berries in Hot Springs, MT, two-stepping with her older brother in Jackson Hole, WY, sharing her homemade honey mead with friends, weathering a snowstorm with her all her critters, or loading her saddlebags to explore the mountains with her older brother Kyle – she treated every day as an adventure.
Bo was an old soul and believed in the magic of everything. From tales of fairies and reading tea leaves, to helping her daughter save toads on the road – she believed in passing on that magic to all the children in her life. A tender heart for those down on their luck, she never understood the social status determined by society. She truly believed everyone has their own spark of magic and brought it out of them.
She taught personal development classes at the UVCC in Provo, UT, where she was a huge advocate for abused and battered women. Her career in sales and marketing was impressive and led her to be #1 in cellular phone sales in southern Utah. You better believe she could sell you oceanfront property in Arizona.
Most recently, Bo enjoyed her life on Flathead Lake in Polson, MT; soaking in the hot springs and swimming at her local aquatic center – where she made some amazing friends.
Bo’s magnetic and charismatic personality left a presence with everyone she met. Her “piss and vinegar” will forever be missed.
