Obituary for
Beverly Jean Ledford
Beverly Jean Ledford passed away October 12, 2012 of complications from breast cancer.
Bev was born to Clarence and Nadine Herreid on July 10, 1931 in Polson, MT. Bev attended school in Polson and after graduating in 1949, was employed by Hess Bottling and Askevold Construction in the accounting departments. She later moved to Great Falls and started working for GMAC in the accounting department; she was then transferred to Butte and Missoula.
In 1955, Beverly met and married the love of her life, Allen Ledford and later that year they were joined by their son Daniel. In 1957, the family moved back to Polson where Bev spent many years working at the Flathead Courier in accounting and office management. In 1964, the family moved to Edmunds, WA., and during 1971-1993, Al and Bev gave their hearts and souls into building and running Ledford Marine and Construction in Everett, WA. You can still see some of the fishing boats they built running active fishing routes in Alaska today. They also owned a commercial gillnetting license for salmon in Washington.
By 1993, Al and Bev decided to retire back to Montana and settled into their family home in Florence. Now, with time on their hands, Bev enjoyed traveling to Alaska for several summers with Al in the big purple bus and fishing for salmon and halibut.
Bev is survived by her husband, Allen Ledford of Florence; son, Daniel (Liz) of Missoula; brother, Darel Herreid (Liz) of Seattle; sister-in-law, Corky Blackler; brother-in-law, John (Debbie) Ledford of Lozeau, MT, Martha of Helena and Phyllis of Twin Falls, ID and several other family member and friends too numerous to mention.
Bev is preceded in death by her parents and brother Lorin. Cremation has taken place and there will be graveside service at a later date and a reception in Florence. In lieu of flowers the family asks that a donation be given to Pantry Partners in Stevensville or Ani-Meals.
Grogan Funeral Home of Polson, MT has been entrusted to handle the arrangements for the family.
