Obituary for Bernard Eugene Bonamie

On April 21, 2014 Bernard Eugene Bonamie of Polson, MT went peacefully to join his wife Bev to their eternal resting place in Heaven. Family surrounded him at his bedside at St. Joseph's hospital during his last few days.

Bernie was 82. He was born on June 12, 1931 in Wessington, SD to Gus and Ethyl Bonamie. He attended grade school in Miller and Wessington, SD and graduated from Wessington High School in 1949. Bernard enlisted in the Air Force during the Korean War and served for 4 years. He graduated from Huron College in 1959 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.

Bernie met the love of his life, Beverly Christman, in 1956 in college playing ping pong. They were married on September 1, 1957 and they shared 52 years together. Bernie was a loving husband, dad, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.

Bernie spent eight years as a High School basketball coach and teacher.
He left teaching to go into business. He was a volunteer in the Cascade County Sheriff's Department.

He was preceded in death by his brother Danny Lee, his dad Gus Bonamie,
his mother Ethyl Hiner and his wife Beverly Bonamie.

He is survived by his daughters Kristy Johnson and her husband Paul of Seattle, and Lori Chase and her husband Richard, of Helena. He is also
survived by four grandsons, Tory Schuessler of Seattle, Tyler Chase of Helena, Trever Chase of Helena and Ryan Johnson of Seattle; two granddaughters, Annie Chase of Helena and Brittney Johnson of Seattle; two great grand children Cy and Carter of Helena, and his dear friends Lyle and Hazel Rowan of Wessington, S.D.

A graveside memorial service will be held in Wessington, S.D. at a later date. The family suggests memorials be made to St. Joseph's Hospital, Polson, MT.
