Arthur Wayne McNair

June 30, 1955 — April 18, 2020

Arthur Wayne McNair born June 30th 1955, was called by his Creator on April 18th, 2020. “Art” was a very proud member of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes on the Flathead Indian Reservation in Montana. He met the love of his life, Jane Pound when they were 17 years old, and married March 16th 1973; they recently celebrated their 46th Wedding Anniversary. They had three children Tobie, Tommy, and TJ McNair.
Art and his soulmate Jane were inseparable, and enjoyed many drives in the woods, rides on the Harley, and trips to the casino; where many will remember his big smile, while playing his favorite machines. Art was a very proud father and grandfather; he was their number one fan in all aspects of their lives. Gramps and Grandma would travel near and far to watch their grandkids with their special events. You would always hear “Gramps” yelling and cheering from the bleachers.

He would give the shirt off his back to make it a better day for someone else. His kindness, humor, smile, and generous personality were just a few of his great qualities he shared with many. He loved to make everyone laugh and enjoyed playing games and practical jokes. Family time was his favorite time and he would go all out to entertain the guests and made everyone feel welcome. He greeted everyone with a smile and always gave the best big hugs.

He lived in Klamath Falls, Oregon and resided in Klamath Falls for 30 years where he worked for the Klamath County Road department for 7 years and further went on to work for Stukel Rock. After moving to Montana in 1985 he worked at Polson Redi Mix for 23 years. He enjoyed driving trucks for his career and retired in 2009.
Many will remember The Louie Louie Band from 1992-2000 playing at different locations across the Rez. They played a variety of 50’s, 60’s and 70’s Rock n’ Roll. The band was made up by Art, his brothers Hunk and Sonny McNair and Uncle Bidda Matt. They had many fans and followers.

Art had a passion for the outdoors and spent a lot of time hunting, fishing, camping, and sharing pictures of all of his adventures. Art was very talented at woodworking and created many unique projects like his custom made bead trays, cedar boxes, looms, cribbage boards, clocks, and wall decor. .

Art was preceded in death by his father, Alfred David McNair Jr., his mother, Theresa Marie Matt, sisters, Cutie Porter, Sis McNair, Electra Frey, uncle, Bidda Matt, nephews Puff Clark, Bipper Clark, Boot Clark, and great aunt Phyllis Jackson.

Art is survived by his wife Betty “Jane” McNair; children: Tobie McNair (Tom Stack), Tom McNair, Theresa “T.J.” Crockett (Tyler); grandchildren; Brennon, Kylie, Bryson, Kenslie Fisher and Zoe Stack, Adrienne and Peyton Crockett; brothers Randy (Hunky) McNair (Tracy), Sonny McNair (Marlene), Do-Right McNair (Jacque), Ben Williard (Connie), Randy Albert (Rhonda); sisters Peach Ayers and Goonie Rojas, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A special thanks to Dr. LeeAnna Muzquiz and Polson Dialysis Centers for their compassionate care.
