Obituary for
Arlene Ella Drake
Arlene Ella (Altizer) Drake, age 78, passed away surrounded by her family on June 17, at St. Luke Extended Care in Ronan. She was born on March 8, 1939 in Mabton, Washington the first child of Raymond Clifford and Ella Eva (Cooper) Altizer.
Arlene was first married to David Anderson, with whom she had five children. She later went on to marry Hollis “Bud” Drake, where they together resided most of their lives together living on Finley Point, Polson, MT. They had a beautiful view of Flathead Lake and enjoyed the wildlife.
Arlene loved to cook and bake especially during the holidays, going above and beyond for her family. She also loved camping, gardening, spending time with family, making things out of crochet like blankets, pillows, stuffed animals and even clothes for her grandchildren.
She always made sure that her bird feeders were full especially for humming birds which she adored. She could never get enough of her books or cuddles from her beloved dog “Tiny”.
Arlene was the mother of five children, Joanne (Larry) Bettencourt; Tamara (Andy) Austad; David (Shirley) Drake; Dwayne (Deanna) Drake; Mike (Ginger) Drake; a big sister to Karen E. (Altizer) Gorham; Patricia M. Altizer; James R. Altizer and Donald D. Altizer; an aunt to Karen and R.C. Freel; Patty, Kathy and Richard, Donald, Steven and Crystal Altizer; grandmother to Carrie (Austad) Wild, Mitch, Mathew and David Austad, Jesse, Mike and Derek Bettencourt, Brittney and Brandon Drake, Justin, Dwayne Jr. and Cheyenne Drake, Jesse, Sierra and Jasper Drake, as well as numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and extended family and friends.
Arlene had many people who loved her very deeply and she touched many of our lives and hearts. She will forever be remembered, loved and missed. We are comforted that she is now reunited in the afterlife with her daughter Joanne, her husband Hollis, her mother and father Ella and Raymond, her brother Donald, as well as many family members and friends.
Memorial services for Arlene will be held at a later date in Oregon.
