Archie was born May 24, 1923, in Burley, ID., to Adolph Lars and Pearl Robbins Olsen, the eleventh of twelve children. Archie grew up north of St. Ignatius in the Post Creek area, Little Bitterroot country. He later moved to Missoula, where he graduated from Missoula County High School in 1942. After graduation, Archie worked as an electrician in the Seattle shipyards.
On January 12, 1943, he married Kathryn Wood, in Missoula, MT. This marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple. He and Kathryn raised four children, Susan, Jerry, Linda, and Shirley Anne. Archie was a ROCK to many people in the community.
Archie was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving in the bishopric and various other positions. Dad loved to sing, tell corny jokes, and knew his way around a dance floor. He loved gardening, traveling, woodworking, fishing, and bowling.
