Obituary for Ann C. Dobrenz

Ann C. Dobrenz, 70, of Ronan, MT, passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at her home. Born on October 10, 1939 at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Lillian Daley Metcalf. Ann graduated from high school in 1958 in Medical Lake, WA and later graduated from the Kinman Business University in Spokane. Ann married Dennis Dobrenz in 1967. Ann held various positions with the Bureau of Land Management and Public Health Services in Washington, DC and Phoenix, AZ from 1960 until 1974. She then became a stay at home mother to her daughter, Jennifer. The family later moved to Wisconsin in 1984. Her childhood passion for horses later proved to be a successful breeding operation specializing in colored thoroughbreds. Ann enjoyed traveling, getting together with friends for card games, and gardening. Ann was also known for taking in strays of all sorts. In 1985, she took Karen McLeod under her wing and welcomed her in as family giving Karen the opportunity to share in the passion of horses and the opportunity to build the business together. Those left with cherished memories is her husband, Dennis Dobrenz: her daughter, Jennifer (Phil) Wallstedt: two grandchildren, Brent and Julia Wallstedt, and her adopted 'stray', Karen McLeod. A memorial service for Ann will be held on Thursday, July 1, 2010, 1:00 PM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ronan, MT. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family online at www.groganfuneralhome.com. The staff of Grogan Funeral Home and Crematory, Polson, considers it a privilege to care for Mrs. Dobrenz's family.
