Obituary for
Alvina Mae Tenas
Alvina Mae "Elkie" Tenas, age 63, passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2015 surrounded by her family. Alvina was born May 16, 1952 in St. Ignatius to Thomas and Anna Tenas.
Alvina was a proud member of the Salish and Kootenai Tribes. She especially loved their casinos and rodeos.
Alvina held numerous jobs such as tree planting, firefighting and as a CNA which she later retired from.
She looked forward to July every year as that was the month of her favorite Pow Wow. She had a special job that she did there and she loved it; putting on the Annual Standing Arrow Parade.
Alvina has her beadwork all over the Reservation. She always had a new project to do.
She will be missed greatly, but will be forever in our hearts.
Alvina is survived by three daughters and their families, Shawna (Tony), Laura (Dan), and Nina (Jer). Two sons and their families, Josh and Michael (Jacinda); four sisters, Betty, Bernadine, Janice (James), and Annette; three brothers, Frank, Tim (Sandy), and Vern and 20 grandchildren.
She also is survived by her pets, George, Kodi, and Yodi.
Traditional Wake services will be held at the Elmo Hall Thursday, December 10, 2015 10 a.m. with a Rosary following at 8:00 p.m. Mass will be held on December 11th 2015 at 10:00 am at the Elmo Hall with burial following at Dayton Cemetery.
