Obituary for
Alexander Wassillie Vaska Sr.
Alexander Wassillie Vaska, age 71, was called to His ancestors on March 29, 2015. The Eskimo was born in Aniak Alaska August 4, 1943. Alex was the oldest child to Fred and Nastasia Vaska. Not too much is known about Alex's upbringing because he would not talk about it. He did go to school and graduate from St. Mary's Christian School in Bethel, Alaska.
Alex married Philista St. John in Reno, Nevada on February 15, 1964. They had 5 children, Harlan, Melissa, Corbett, Alex Jr., and Gerrett. After 23 years of marriage they divorced.
Alex worked as a fiberglass construction worker in Oakland, California. A skill that he brought to Elmo, Montana running his own fiberglass shop. He later retired from working with fiberglass to enjoy his family and friends doing the things that Montana has to offer.
Alex was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Fred Jr., and son, Alex Jr.
Alex is survived by son Harlan and his children Nastasia and Harlan Jr; Melissa and her children Watokapa Smiley, Alexis Vaska; Corbett and his son Brennen; Gerrett with daughter to be named later.
Alex will be missed by a large extended family and friends that called him dad, brother and friend. He is resting in a better world now.
There will be a visitation for Alexander on Thursday, April 2, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at The Lake Funeral Home. There will be a dinner to follow. Cremation will follow the visitation.
