Obituary for John DuCharme

John DuCharme
John H. DuCharme, age 67, passed away on September 21, 2017 at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula. John was born in St. Ignatius on January 7, 1950. He is the son of Basil and Vivian DuCharme.

John grew up on the south shore of Flathead Lake at DuCharme Lane. He attended school in Polson and graduated from Polson High School in 1968. John joined the U.S. Navy in May of 1969 and was discharged in Sept 1972 and was discharged from the Naval Reserve in May 1975. While in the Navy, John was trained as a dental hygienist.

After his honorable discharge from the Navy, John went to work for Tribal Health in Polson as a dental hygienist until his retirement.

In John*s younger days, he enjoyed travelling with friends. He was an avid golfer at the Polson Country Club. When John moved to the country on DuCharme Lane, he enjoyed gardening and giving away the produce which consisted mostly of carrots, tomatoes and squash. John also liked to make jam, jelly and apple butter that he shared.

John enjoyed having company and always had a candy dish on his table to treat his visitors. His nieces and nephews loved to visit because they were allowed to help themselves to the candy dish. He was a kind and caring man to all his friends and family. John was a U of M Grizzly fan and attended several of their games.

John was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Gary and Harold (Bud), and his sisters, Nadine DuCharme Couture and Myrna DuCharme Johnson. He is survived by his brothers Ken (Mick) from WA; Herb and wife Marilyn of Evaro; Fred (Butch) of CA; Calvin (Toke) and Linda; Richard (Beeb) and George; plus his sister Carol DuCharmeTenney and brother in law Jerry Tenney all of Polson as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for John will be held on Friday, September 29, 2017 at 12:10 P.M. at Immaculate Catholic Church followed by a Rosary. Following the service military honors will take place at the church. All of John*s friends and family are welcome.
